Weddings at the Sacred Heart

At least 6 months notice is needed.
Your wedding will be either a wedding Mass (between two practising Catholics) or Service.
FEES
Church: £300.00 (set by the diocese) to be paid before the wedding Registrar: £50.00 Organist: £50.00
MUSIC
For copyright and liturgical reasons, the playing of secular music on CD’s is not permitted. All music must be in harmony with Christian sentiment and belief. Organist: Mr Tony Shiel 813775
Please meet with him after a Sunday morning Mass to discuss music choices.
Should you wish to use a choir, you need to arrange that yourselves in consultation with Tony.
FLOWERS
Either:
- Own arranged and delivered to church at a convenient time – or –
- Arranged by our own arranger for a fee of £100.00. This fee is based on reasonable flower requests.
PAPERWORK
Civil ‘blue forms’ – from the Register Office – within a year of the date of the marriage
Catholics: certificate of baptism and letter of freedom to marry within 6 months of the date of the wedding
Non-Catholic Christians: original baptismal certificate & signed letter of freedom to marry
Non-baptised: signed letters of freedom to marry – by bride/groom and 2 others who have known him/her for a significant period of time
For a Catholic to marry a non-baptised person, paperwork is sent to the Chancery for permission
PREPARATION
Couples will normally attend a short, diocesan led, marriage course. The certificate for this is then included in the marriage paperwork. This is normally held at St Andrew’s, Teesville
ORDER of SERVICE
The clergy have templates which we will lead you through, email you to complete and check through
Readings should be from the Bible. Guidance on this will be given by the clergy.
CONFETTI
Is allowed, but please use paper/degradable confetti NOT plastic and try to be on the church doorstep before it is thrown
